Since 1966, an award formally known as “Kicker-Torjägerkanone” has been awarded to the top scorer at the end of each Bundesliga season.

It is one of the most coveted individual awards for any player to win in the Bundesliga and has been claimed by greats such as Gerd Muller, Robert Lewandowski, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Ulf Kirsten, Miroslav Klose and Jürgen Klinsmann.
