La Liga Schedule

Every season there are 20 teams that compete in La Liga, which is the top division in the Spanish soccer system. Every team in the division will play a total of 38 matches, comprised of playing every other team in the division twice over the course of the season.

Each team will play each other once at home and once away in an attempt to win the most points possible and end the season at the top of the La Liga table. The team that accumulates the most points will win the league and be crowned champions of Spain. Points are earned for the following results — three points for a win, one for a draw and zero for a defeat.

Teams who finish in the top four places of the La Liga table will then be rewarded with a place in the Champions League in the following season. Fifth place will earn their place in the Europa League, while sixth qualifies for the Europa Conference League. The three teams that finish 18th, 19th and 20th will each be relegated to the Segunda División and replaced in La Liga by the three teams that have won promotion to La Liga.
