Winning the Golden Boot will be the target of any forward heading into a new season. In Ligue 1, the race to win the award for top scorer is always a competitive one and there has been a number of impressive records within the goalscoring category.

Carlos Bianchi, Delio Onnis and Jean-Pierre Papin have each finished as Ligue 1 top goalscorer on five occasions, while Josip Skoblar holds the record for most goals by a player in a single season with his tally of 44 in the 1970/71 season with Marseille.
