Serie A Schedule

Each season, the 20 teams that compete in Serie A must complete 38 league fixtures. These 38 fixtures are comprised of 19 matches at their home stadium and 19 matches away on the road, with each team facing each other twice. The league table is based on the number of points that competing teams are able to accumulate from those fixtures.

Teams earn three points for a win, one point for a draw and none for a defeat in Serie A, as has become accustomed through the world of soccer. The three teams who accumulate the least points over the course of the season will then be relegated to Serie B, the second tier of Italian soccer, and be replaced by the three teams that won promotion in the following season.

Outside of winning the league and relegation, there are also some European places up for grabs through your league position in Serie A. Each of the top four teams will qualify automatically for the group stages of the following season’s Champions League. This can result in a huge financial boost for the teams that are able to secure a top-four finish.

As well as this, the team that finishes in fifth will qualify for the Europa League, while the team in sixth place will compete in the Europa Conference League. There is a further Europa League place available to Serie A teams through winning the Coppa Italia, but if the winner of the competition finishes in the top five that place will go the team that finishes in sixth, while the seventh-placed team in Serie A will go into the Europa Conference League.
